Snow Day: Erin Condren Planner

It is a very snow day outside.  I for one am sick and tired of the snow.  We live in a pretty rural area and thus it is difficult to get in and out when it snows.  My husband does a fantastic job of keeping our drive clear but it inhibits Mr. Brown Pants (AKA the UPS man) from making deliveries.  Living out in the middle of nowhere I have to order most things online.  The funny thing is we are just an hour and a half train ride to downtown Chicago.  It is such a contrasting dynamic to live here in rural America and then be in the heart of one of the biggest cities in the U.S. in no time.

At any rate, rural living and being a Stay at Home Mom does create certain challenges.  The nearest city large enough to do anything is 15 minutes away.  The city that I do my shopping in is 30 minutes away.  Needless to say, when I am cooking and forget an ingredient I am out of luck!  This takes a great deal of planning on my part to be prepared at all times.  I love my Erin Condren planner for keeping me on task.  I have always been a planner fanatic.

Growing up in school I would get some sort of high going into the office supply store. The smell of new crayons or new paper made me weak in the knees.  I would constantly swap out one organizer for another.  I loved collecting pens, paper clips and post-it notes.  Insane I know.  However, I have have been amazed to find that I am not the only one.  I have found endless people on YouTube, Instagram and other various internet outlets talking about their love of planners and office supplies.

At least I know that I am not the only crazy one!!  My Erin Condren planner is the 15-month calendar.  I took it out of the spiral that it came in and cut it down to fit into my old Filofax A5 Hot Pink Domino.  I love that I was able to merge two planners that I loved into one functional unit.  I use my planner to take notes at PTO, to schedule and keep track of school and life events and to basically organize my life into something that resembles organized chaos.

Putting the calendar into the A5 was super easy.  It took some time, no doubt about that, however it was easy.  I simply cut the pages down to size (YES, it HURT when I did this, the spiral is so cute and pretty but I was keeping my eye on the bigger prize!) and then used a 3-hole punch to punch the pages accordingly.  It worked perfectly.  The nice thing about using the A5 is that I can still use the dividers that came with the A5 and some of the pages such as address, to do, etc. and also add A5 paper for notes.

You can see how nicely the pages fit into the A5.  Perfection!

This is how it looks closed.  It looks so nice with the hot pink and the pretty colored mostly tabs sticking out.

I have been using this planner now since last October and I have been so pleased.  I plan on purchasing another one this December (that is when it runs out) to replace this one.

A side note, I saw that Erin Condren is now available for purchase on tinyprints.com.  I thought that this was interesting.  I think that her products are becoming so popular, due in large part to social media, that she is branching out to distribute them through larger channels.

I may live in the middle of no where, but, via the magic of the internet and Mr. Brown Pants I am able to have every luxury, including my Erin Condren planner.

Happy Planning!!
